What Is DPF Cleaning?

Your diesel particulate filter traps soot from the exhaust and burns it off during a regeneration. Short trips, town driving and faults can stop that regeneration happening, and the filter clogs. Once it is blocked you get a warning light, lost power, poor economy and often limp mode, where the car cuts power to protect itself.

DPF cleaning clears that blockage at the source. We clean the filter with professional equipment, run a forced regeneration to restore proper flow, then clear the fault and road test the car. Why do DPFs block in the first place?
DPFs have been fitted to diesels since 2009 to trap soot. They burn that soot off during a regeneration, but lots of short, cold, stop start journeys never get the filter hot enough to regenerate, so it slowly clogs and eventually triggers the warning light and limp mode.
